Profile Of Asaviour

Born and raised in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Asaviour made his vinyl debut in 1999 on Jehst's highly acclaimed first release “Premonitions” (YNR). His appearance on Jehst’s 2002 club smash "People Under the Weather" (Low Life) further raised his profile and quickly lead to his solo debut, the phenomenal “Savoir Faire” EP (Low Life) in 2003, which contained the underground smash "Money in the Bank" (feat. Jehst). Around the same time he also appeared on Tommy Evan’s “Mourning Skies”, taken from “The Turbulent Times Of…” EP/CD (YNR) and “Monotony”, the second single from Jehst’s classic “Falling Down” LP (Low Life) before dropping his second solo outing, the highly acclaimed underground hit “The Homecoming” b/w “Money In The Bank (Remix)” (feat. Yungun and Kyza) on YNR in 2004.
2006 was a busy year for Asaviour. He teamed up with DJ IQ for the "Play 2 Win" Mix CD on his own imprint, Savingrace Music, featured on DJ IQ’s debut album “Brain Food” (Mancan Music) and put in a number of guest appearances on Ghost’s “Seldom Seen Often Heard” (Breakin’ Bread) LP (including lead single “The Pay Off”) before finally hitting listeners with his highly anticipated debut LP “The Borrowed Ladder” (Low Life).
The subsequent media frenzy raised his profile even further and left listeners without any doubt about his skills on the mic. His unique voice, flow and twist on content set him apart from many of his counterparts, and as well as being a sick spitter Asaviour can also get busy on the boards, producing beats for both the “Savoir Faire” EP and “The Borrowed Ladder” LP. Just check out blazing hot joints like “A Track Called It”, double time banger “So Northern” and D90 Rules Remix (feat. Braintax), and Usmaan’s “You’re The Same” (Cryogenics).
An outstanding live performer, Asaviour's skills are by no means limited to the studio and he has built up a reputation on the live circuit tearing up stages with Jehst and DJ IQ throughout the UK and abroad. He has also racked up a large number of solo performances and has recently appeared as part of renowned Producer/DJ Ghost’s “Seldom Seen Often Heard” Tour along with Verb T and Kashmere. Consistently gigging alongside such top-ranking international acts as DJ Cash Money, Jon B, J-Zone, Al Shid, Q-Bert, Quantic, Pete Rock, De La Doul, Atmosphere, Terri Walker, Lethal B, London Electricity and Non Phixion, to name a few, put him and his associates in a class of their own. Forever on the grind, when he’s not gigging Asaviour can be found in the lab working with the likes of Mr Thing, DubbleEdge, Micall Parkinsun, Evil Ed, Chicago’s Chester Copperpot, Manchester’s finest Broke N English and Konny Kon, and fellow Huddersfield natives Ground Wurq Ent. He is currently working on a collaboration album featuring DJ IQ called “A-Loop-Theory” featuring a collection of some of the most exiting artist in Black music today, which will be ready for the public mid in 2008. He is also working on a production album called "NextSkool Classics" which should be out late 2008. He is now about to release his new Play To Win volume 2 mixtape on his own imprint saving grace music. check out: http://www.myspace.com/playtowin2 Not to mention a host of remixes and productions works for a number of UK artists albums, 2008 is going so be somewhat of a rampage for the man … Asaviour just turned Savvy....So give him his green!

Profile Of Jehst

Born in Kent in the summer of '79, Jehst spent his childhood in Sussex before moving to Huddersfield, West Yorkshire as a teenager. Fueled by the bleak reality of smack infested post-industrial North he re-located to London, making his vinyl debut in 1999 with the highly acclaimed "Premonitions" EP, launching the self-financed YNR Productions label from his University halls of residence. From this point on there was no turning back.Jehst began collaborated with other artists on the label, contributing both production and guest vocals to subsequent releases. His profile was further raised when he put in an appearance on Task Force's "Voice of the Great Outdoors" EP released on Low Life records in 2000, before dropping his second solo outing on the same label the following year. Entitled "The High Plains Drifter", this four track (plus skits & instrumentals) EP delivered a range of music moods and lyrical content. Jehst followed this up with a couple of Harry Love produced bangers:"Staircase 2 Stage" which teamed him up with NYC underground hero J-Zone, and the autobiographical "Alcoholic Author" (marking his welcome return to YNR Productions) in 2002. Throughout this time Jehst was a pivotal member of the legendary "Champions of Nature", the 7 man super-group who released 2 EP's and the classic summer jam "Salsa Smurf" on their own C.O.N Artists label before licensing the 12" to Wordplay/Source as the lead single from the "WordLab2" compilation. After a lot of hard graft and hollow promises the crew officially disbanded. Restless as ever, Jehst switched his focus back to solo material, rounding off the year with the club smash "People Under The Weather" (feat. Asaviour) on Low Life, accompanied with a full length CD of his collected works "The Return Of The Drifter". With all of this under his belt, not to mention contributions to the classic albums "Biro Funk" by Braintax and the long-awaited "It's All Happening Now" from Lewis Parker, Jehst has established himself among the lyrical elite. With live performances as strong as his discography Jehst has torn-up shows all over the UK and abroad along side the likes of Non Phixion, Q-Bert, Atmosphere, J-Zone, Mr Lif, De La Soul, More Fire Crew and Big Brovaz. His on-stage A-Team consists of label mate (and long-time bredren) Asaviour and UK under-18's DMC Champion DJ IQ.

Profile On Broke N' English

Strategy (a.k.a. John Major) picked up a microphone aged 11, rocked youth clubs at 12, met Mikey Don from Krispy 3 at 16 and the future was written. The MC seed was planted and very soon a career began to sprout!Strategys talents were respected early on; his first guest appearance being alongside Roots Manuva on the Track Trade Study which featured on the LP From the Country.Joining forces with Konny Kon amoungst others, he joined up with legendary Mank hiphop supercrew the Microdisiacs and released material with them working from their base up north. He held down his residency at Manchesters renowned Eardrum sessions at Dry Bar for 2 years alongside Jenna G from Uncut (Then known as Future Cut) and featured on their track Broken English. So you can see where this is going.......
DRS toured the world courtesy of Goodlooking Records, finding fame on the Drum & Bass circuit and alongside Conrad was LTJ Bukems right hand man, as documented on Logical Progression level 2, 3, 4. Although he is still in demand (he regularly tours with Calibre and Marcus Intalex) he never felt like he was satisfying his talent and hunger to rock crowds. DRS was looking for something different. He met various promoters, took up mic duties and flexed his talents on Hip Hop through to Drum & Bass. It was through various residencies that he first met Strategy and the Broke'n'£nglish partnership was formed and cemented.
DRS and Strategy invited Konny Kon to join them on their weekly pirate radio show and through their live freestyles and choice cuts their Manchester following grew, and live bookings followed. In the short time since they have supported some of the biggest Hip hop acts from both sides of the Atlantic including GhostFace Killah, Mobb Deep, De La Soul, Public Enemy, Xzibit, Jurassic 5, Supernatural, The Beatnuts, Jeru the Damaja, Souls of Mischief, Q-Bert, Rhazel, Sian Supa Crew, Jehst, Rodney P & Skitz, Skinnyman, Taskforce and many many more. All of this with no releases!
A couple of releases under their belts brought more attention, with guest appearances on 1xtra with Rodney P & Skitz, Mr Scruffs Hotpot on Key 103 and Radio 1s Worldwide show for Gilles Peterson. The boys have since had regular slots on 1xtra and had their mixtape "Terms&Conditions" voted the best mixtape of 2006 by the stations listeners. Their track "Tryin" also was voted second best track of 2006!
Slowly but surely the boys have been deservedly gaining recognition and a reputation for having one of the hottest live shows in the country, in june the boys were nominated by a panel from BBC Radio to play at the new BBC INTRODUCING stage at Glastonbury and were tipped as one of the best shows of the whole festival by Huw Stephens. Having released their debut album "Subject2Status" in 2007, things are looking good for the northern contingent.
